Dr. Clemens Apprich

Clemens Apprich is a professor of media theory and history at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. He serves as the head of the Department of Media Theory and the Weibel Institute for Digital Cultures, and he also holds the position of Vice President for Research and Digitality.


His current research focuses on digital media and computational cultures, particularly examining filter algorithms and their application in data analysis, as well as methods of machine learning.


He is the author of "Technotopia: A Media Genealogy of Net Cultures" (Rowman & Littlefield International, 2017) and the co-author of "Pattern Discrimination" (University of Minnesota Press/meson press, 2019). Additionally, he is working on a new book project titled "Errant Intelligence," which is forthcoming from Amsterdam University Press.
