EPHEMERAL COMPANIONS
Ephemeral Companions
31 May - 19 June 2024 / Opening: May 31st
Exhibition by Anna Lerchbaumer + Rafael Lippuner
Humankind´s journey with technology has been nothing short of transformational. The exhibition seeks to explore and document their relationship, as far back as we can imagine and as close as it has grown since. It examines the symbiotic association, challenges, and ethical dilemmas created by our creations.
Beginning with the birth of rudimentary tools, “Ephemeral Companions” meticulously trace the path of technological marvels that have become an integral part of our daily lives. It explores the cultural, social, and psychological dimensions of our interactions with these tools, analyzing how they both connect and sometimes distance us. It encourages us to reflect on the impact of technology on our affinities, from the intimacy of personal relations to the larger scale of global communities. Both artists ask us to imagine these connections and call for a responsible and mindful use of the tools that shape our world.
Found objects, everyday and discarded things are reassembled as a sculptural assemblage. It will take more than a human lifetime to breathe new life into worthless objects that have long since been removed from our daily lives.
As we navigate the digital landscape of the 21st century, "Ephemeral Companions" encourages us to understand our place in the ever-evolving narrative of technological developments. It is a highlight of human creativity, resilience, and the enduring spirit that continues to forge connections in the age of technology.
Artists
Anna Lerchbaumer
In her artistic work, Anna reflects on the relationships between environmental issues, people, and technology. She works with sound, found objects, and woodturning. She creates expansive installations in which the sculptural aspect plays an important role. She combines obsolescence, and raw material things spatially and acoustically to create humorous and critical connections.

Rafael Lippuner
Rafael is a mixed-media artist who employs the process of assembling materials, installing, and managing as artistic practice. The means of presentation are linked to the object and to storytelling itself, more so in a time where images and symbols displace language. His multimedia works intervene with everyday situations, to retain a certain wilderness in how we go about and perceive our surroundings.
